New Works Reading Series at Writers Stage

Nashville playwright Jim Reyland is determined to make good use of the limited time he has access to his Writer's Stage performing space on Charlotte. He's already mounted two productions of his original scripts, and now he offers theatergoers an opportunity to experience two of his newer works in a staged reading format. Both plays, Further Than We've Ever Been and Article IV, have received strong encouragement from some of the most important developmental theater organizations in the country, and Reyland constantly strives to hone his themes and dialogue. He's corralled some really fine Music City actors to aid in the cause--Barry Scott, Brian Webb Russell, Matthew Carlton and Jaclyn Johnson, among them--plus playwright Victoria Stewart, the current Martha R. Ingram Artist in Residence at Tennessee Repertory Theatre, will contribute on the first night of the two-evening event. Admission is free, concessions will be available and a talk-back follows each reading.
