NewArtist Theatre Project is the brainchild of Benjamin Reed and Brittany K. McManus, who aim to produce neo-collaborative theater featuring younger performers and a multimedia slant. The company vision for the Bard's romantic tragedy is post-apocalyptic, and the strategically pruned and reworked 90-minute script will be enhanced by an original soundtrack provided by the local band Lórien. In addition, Nashville artist Shara Dewitt was invited to add to the show's visual look, and her artwork will be on exhibit during the run. It's $5 to get in, which—aside from free Shakespeare in the Park—makes this the most affordable classical theater ticket in town.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 11:30 p.m. Starts: Aug. 21. Continues through Aug. 30, 2008
