Nickelodeon's The Backyardigans Live!: Tale of the Mighty Knights
Published on August 21, 2008 at 3:42am
This 3-D CGI-animated musical adventure series, pitched to the preschool set, is originally a Canadian product that has gained favor since 2004 on U.S., U.K. and Australian television. For the uninitiated, the story follows five high-spirited friendsUniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Austinwho rely on their vivid imaginations to transform their backyard into fantastic landscapes, and then embark on epic journeys. This touring stage version is based on a primetime Nickelodeon special from earlier this year"Tale of the Mighty Knights"which offers a medieval setting, a dragon and "a quest to protect King Pablo's unpredictable egg." There's lots of eclectic original music, plus dancing, and enough interactive earnestness to keep the youngsters in the audience in thrall.
