48 Hour Film Project Awards
Published on July 31, 2008 at 3:40am
Picture the Oscars hijacked by soccer hooligans: That's a bit of the atmosphere you can expect as all 53 competing teams in the 48 Hour Film Project (and their associated friends, family and leg-breakers) convene to hear who advances to an international face-off. (As you'll recall, this is the contest where hardy souls vie to write, shoot and complete a short film in just 48 hours, given one common prop, character and line of dialogue.) Conspicuously absent this year will be the event's mainstay and reluctant host, Andy van Roon, who was sidelined just before competition with a heart ailment. To help offset his medical expenses, a fund has been established by FilmNashville at GreenBank. Contributions may be made at the event Tuesday night or by sending checks to FilmNashville for Andy c/o GreenBank, 2621 Lebanon Rd., Nashville, TN 37214. Don't tell him we sent you.
