We dont think its a stretch to say that a large part of DJs Wick-it and Kidsmeals dramatic growth as artists and turntablists over the last year can be attributed to this party and its forceful eclecticism. Making the masses move without the crutch of a specific genre, sound or sub-micro-clique is quite the feat, and we think the open forum has pushed these guys to the next levelforcing them to step out of the long shadow cast by DJ Egon over the citys backpack-toting hipster-hop set and free themselves from the constant aping of the Stones Throw Records sound that made the last few years around here a wee bit stale. As Mashville approaches its one-year anniversary, its obvious that the longer it keeps on running, the better off our scene will be.
